Recent comments by some of you, not to mention the current state of affairs here on planet Earth, has me thinking about "progress" again. What is it? How do we define it and measure it? Is it culturally mediated, or is it, in truth, a factual measurement? What assumptions do we make about progress and where do they lead us?

Some would contend that progress is always good. But what is good? Good for whom?

Here's an alternate way to think about progress -- some might say a saner way, too: Genuine Progress Indicators .

I'll make further progress with this post later.
